Can someone tell me what is this light over Söder (the South part of Stockholm)? I always find it awesome...

Sunday night (1st of November) I took a walk just around the house, was on the phone with someone for 1.5 hours... As I haven't checked out yet the nearby church, this was a perfect time. And I discovered that it even had a cemetery - with full of candles of course.
Vasárnap éjszaka (november elsején) sétáltam egyet a ház körül, másfél órát beszéltem valakivel telefonon... Mivel még nem néztem meg a közeli templomot, ez tökéletes alkalom volt. Felfedeztem, hogy még temetője is van - természetesen gyertyákkal tele.

This is the Brännkyrka kyrka (Burned Church Church) - not a typo, for some reason this is how it is called, double. It is originated in the end of 12th century (did I understand it right from the description? Swedish people please help me with translation) and was burned down and rebuilt several times through the ages. Got its name from a fire before 1425, because it appears first in a source from that year.
Ez az Égett templom templom - nem elírás, valami miatt így hívják, duplán. A XII. századból ered (jól értettem a leírásból? Svédül tudók, javítsatok ki!), és az idők során többször leégett, újjáépítették. A nevét egy 1425 előtti tűzvészről kapta, mert először ekkor bukkan fel egy forrásban.

I just found out that they regularly have concerts, so I better check that out :-)
Most tudtam meg, hogy rendszeresen tartanak koncerteket, jó lesz utánanéznem :-)

World March for Peace and Non-Violence at Sergels Torg

The World March for Peace and Non-Violence, for which I am one of the first endorsers from Hungary, arrived to Stockholm today and they had a rich program, including visiting the Parliament.
A Világ Körüli Menet a békéért és az Erőszakmentességért, amelynek egyik első magyarországi támogatója vagyok, ma Stockholmba érkezett, és gazdag programjuk volt: többek között meglátogatták a svéd parlamentet is.

I only participated in the evening program and took a few photos - when I was not performing, I was rather busy with dancing or talking with people. In the cold, dancing to the hot music was an obvious choice, and I got a great dance partner - can't wait to get the pictures! :-)))
Jómagam csak az esti rendezvényen vettem részt, és lőttem pár fotót - amikor éppen nem én léptem fel, akkor meglehetősen elfoglalt voltam azzal, hogy táncoltam, és beszélgettem az emberekkel. A hidegben a forró ritmusokra ropott tánc egyértelmű választás volt, ráadásul volt egy jó partnerem is - alig várom, hogy megkapjam a képeket! :-)))











There could be much said about the evening and this event at all (and I have told a few words here), but now it's very late, have to go to bed and get up early for the press conference about the march.
Sokat lehetne beszélni az estről meg egyáltalán erről a rendezvényről (és ezen a fenti linken már ejtettem is róla néhány szót), de most rettentő késő van, és le kell feküdnöm, hogy korán felkelhessek holnap a sajtótájékoztatóra.

And by the way, I wonder how many media representative will be there, for I couldn't find ANYTHING about it in the Swedish media, except for TilliT and Nordic Africa News and a few sites of private persons or participating associations (okay, didn't watch tv nor listened to radio), although I know that a lot of papers, new sites etc were contacted...
Mellesleg kíváncsi vagyok, hogy hány médiaképviselő lesz ott, mert nem találtam erről az egészről SEMMIT a svéd médiában, kivéve a TilliT-et, Nordic Africa News-t és egy-két magánszemély illetve támogató szervezet weboldalát (oké, nem néztem tévét, és nem hallgattam rádiót). Pedig tudom, hogy rengeteg újságot és híroldalt, stb megkerestek...

Ten thousand candles

Tonight they lit 10 000 candles or so at Kungstradgarden, to support Cancerfonden, the Swedish Cancer Society. This is for the occasion of Breast Cancer Awereness Month which is October.

It's great that people want to help and contribute to beat cancer - it should be natural so.

However, I do have some reservations when a non-profit cancer research organization is sponsored by a VERY much profit-oriented pharmaceutical company... which is in this case, Pfizer. Just doesn't make any freaking sense for me: why would a company that has the purpose of selling more and more drugs to cancer patients, support cancer research - which should aim for NO cancer???

Ten thousand or so, and 35.-SEK a piece goes to cancer research. The Cancerfonden has the target of more than 400M SEK per year. I wonder where does all that money go...

I wonder what do they research, when they already know that "in Sweden, 70 percent of all cancer cases are caused by known lifestyle factors", according to the information on their website. Nutrition, smoking, sun, etc.

To find out what is healthy food and that tobacco kills, shouldn't cost 400 000 000 SEK per year...

Anyway, I shouldn't spoil the spirit of well-intentioned civilians wanting to help cancer patients - as a cancer survivor myself, I highly appreciate their efforts!

The Globe is under my window

Looking down to the Globe from the kitchen window...
Lenézek a glóbuszra a konyhaablakból...

The Ericsson Globe (as I just found it out that this is how it's called today) is the largest hemispherical building in the world and hosts the Swedish national sports arena. Probably you will never hear it mentioned by its official name, everybody simply calls it Globen.
Az Ericsson Globe (amint azt megtudtam, hogy manapság így nevezik) a világ legnagyobb félgömb alakú épülete, a svéd nemzeti sportcsarnok otthona. Valószínűleg soha nem emlegetik a hivatalos nevén, mindenki egyszerűen csak Globennek hívja.


At night, often it is lit in special colors, matching to the occasion. Tonight Cirque de Soleil's Saltimbanco show started, so the multicolor lights were appropriate.
Estére gyakran különleges színekkel világítják ki, az alkalomhoz illően. Ma este a Cirque de Soleil's Saltimbanco c. műsora kezdődött, tehát megfelelő a tarkaság.



And you can also see candles on the pavement: somebody must have had a birthday party or something, because it was candles all around the block, wonderful!
És gyertyákat is láthattok a járdán: valakinek biztos szülinapja volt, vagy hasonló buli, mert az egész háztömb körül gyertyák égtek, csodás!

It's not Christmas yet, but they celebrated the Tom Jones concert with red:
