Your Dream Car?

Last Friday evening I happened to walk on Sveavägen which is one of the main streets in Stockholm city. Think perhaps Champs Élysées in Paris or Ringstrasse in Vienna, Nagykörút (Grand Boulevard) in Budapest.
Péntek este épp a Sveavägenen jártam, ami Stockholm belvárosának az egyik főutcája. Mondjuk, mint Párizsban a Champs Élysées, Bécsben a Ringstrasse, vagy Pesten a Nagykörút.

To my surprise, it was so much more alive than any other times I have been there - and that is one of the places where I am several times a week. First time since I have been here, this street looked like an ordinary weekday summer evening in one of those streets mentioned above. With the difference that here it was a special occasion.
Meglepetésemre ezúttal sokkal élettelibb volt, mint bárkor, amikor erre jártam - márpedig ez az egyik hely, amerre hetente többször is megfordulok. Mióta itt vagyok, ez az út most először tűnt olyannak, mint a fent említettek egy közönséges, nyári hétköznap este - azzal a különbséggel, hogy itt most valami különleges alkalom volt.

I found out that on the last Friday of every month they have a cruise with great cars.
Megtudtam, hogy minden hónap utolsó péntekjén klassz járgányok pompáznak itt végig.

Not too great quality photos, took them with my phone, without flash, but you get the feeling.
Nem túl jó minőségű fotók, a mobilommal csináltam őkat, vaku nélkül, de itt a fíling.

I just noticed: it's all red cars... On Saturday there will be another cruise, I should pass by and shoot some blue ones too - or silver, yellow, black, green.
Most veszem észre: mindegyik piros... Szombaton lesz egy másik parádé, ha sikerül, megnézem, és lekapok pár kéket is - vagy ezüstöt, sárgát, feketét, zöldet. 

I have never thought of what would be my Dream Car - but what is yours?
Még sose gondoltam arra, hogy mi lenne az én Álomautóm - de mi lenne a tiéd?

Tomten är här - Santa is here

Itt a Mikulás

No, he is really not. Kids in my country Hungary have an unfair advantage this time of the year, compared to their Swedish fellows (or Americans, English one and most of the other places in the world...): in Hungary and in Slovakia, Poland and Czech Republic, Mikulás aka. Santa Claus comes on the 6th of December, on the feast day of Saint Nicholas. This night the "good" children get some goodies, but of course the "bad" ones also have their sweets. This way, December has a double occasion for the kids to celebrate; the Christmas presents are brought by the Little Jesus.
Nos, nem igazán. A magyar gyerekek az év ezen időszakában előnyben vannak svéd társaikhoz képest (és a világ majdnem minden más országában élő gyerekekhez képest): Magyarországon (illetve Szlovákiában, Lengyelországban és Csehországban) a Mikulás (vagy Télapó) december 6-án jön, Szent Miklós nevenapján. Ezen az éjszakán a "jó" gyerekek finomságokat kapnak, de persze a "rosszak" is megkapják a maguk édességét. Így aztán decemberben a gyerekek kétszer is ünnepelhetnek; a karácsonyi ajándékokat pedig ugyebár a Jézuska hozza. 

So, here in Stockholm no-one knows that Tomten (aka. Santa Claus) is right now in Central-Europe, filling the polished boots that were put out in the windows. They think here that Santa is preparing full blast for Christmas, which is of course not true, but let's leave them in this belief.

Így aztán itt Stockholmban senki sem tudja, hogy a Mikulás most éppen Közép-Európában töltögeti meg az ablakokba kirakott, kipucolt csizmácskákat. Itt azt hiszik, hogy nagyban készülődik a karácsonyra, ami persze nem igaz, de hagyjuk meg őket ebben a hitükben!

As in every December, the Christmas decoration of the upscale warehouse NK (Nordiska Kompaniet) attracts young and old alike, making it a family program to go and see it.
Mint minden decemberben, az előkelő NK áruház (Nordiska Kompaniet) karácsonyi kirakata kicsiket-nagyokat egyaránt vonz, valóságos családi program, hogy meg kell nézni.













Well, the old fellow really needs to work that potbelly down (you will see his outfit on the next shot), so he goes sporty. And taking care of the environment. When he is not fast enough on the bike, the Silent Night sounds awful...
Hát, az öreg pasasnak igencsak le kell dolgoznia azt a pocakot (a következő képen meglátjátok majd, milyen cuccba öltözött), úgyhogy sportosra veszi a figurát. És környezetbarátra. Amikor nem elég gyorsan teker, a Csendes éj rettentően hangzik...

The Swedish Royal Wedding

A svéd királyi esküvő

The wedding of Sweden's Crown Princess Victoria and Daniel Westling (now Prince Daniel of Sweden, Duke of Västergötland) yesterday, on 19 June 2010, was definitely the greatest event I have seen since I live here in Stockholm!

Tegnap, 2010. június 19-én volt Svédország trónörökösnőjének (egyes fordításokban koronahercegnőjének), Victoriának és Daniel Westlingnek (mostantól Daniel Svéd Hercegnek, Västergötland Hercegének) esküvője. Kétségtelenül a legnagyszerűbb esemény, amióta Stockholmban élek!

I still suppose this is the time when one should go to a hot concert, dancing or such to keep warm - no? No, sorry, this is now already lent time, but the scene here was nothing different in the past weeks when other places of the world were celebrating carnival...
De én még mindig azt feltételezem, hogy pont az ilyen időben kellene az embernek elmenni egy dögös koncertre, táncolni, vagy ilyesmi, ott meleg van, nem? Nem, bocsánat, már itt a nagyböjt; viszont a helyzet semmivel sem volt különb itt a z elmúlt hetekben, amikor pedig a világ más helyein javában dúlt a farsang...

World March for Peace and Non-Violence at Sergels Torg

The World March for Peace and Non-Violence, for which I am one of the first endorsers from Hungary, arrived to Stockholm today and they had a rich program, including visiting the Parliament.
A Világ Körüli Menet a békéért és az Erőszakmentességért, amelynek egyik első magyarországi támogatója vagyok, ma Stockholmba érkezett, és gazdag programjuk volt: többek között meglátogatták a svéd parlamentet is.

I only participated in the evening program and took a few photos - when I was not performing, I was rather busy with dancing or talking with people. In the cold, dancing to the hot music was an obvious choice, and I got a great dance partner - can't wait to get the pictures! :-)))
Jómagam csak az esti rendezvényen vettem részt, és lőttem pár fotót - amikor éppen nem én léptem fel, akkor meglehetősen elfoglalt voltam azzal, hogy táncoltam, és beszélgettem az emberekkel. A hidegben a forró ritmusokra ropott tánc egyértelmű választás volt, ráadásul volt egy jó partnerem is - alig várom, hogy megkapjam a képeket! :-)))











There could be much said about the evening and this event at all (and I have told a few words here), but now it's very late, have to go to bed and get up early for the press conference about the march.
Sokat lehetne beszélni az estről meg egyáltalán erről a rendezvényről (és ezen a fenti linken már ejtettem is róla néhány szót), de most rettentő késő van, és le kell feküdnöm, hogy korán felkelhessek holnap a sajtótájékoztatóra.

And by the way, I wonder how many media representative will be there, for I couldn't find ANYTHING about it in the Swedish media, except for TilliT and Nordic Africa News and a few sites of private persons or participating associations (okay, didn't watch tv nor listened to radio), although I know that a lot of papers, new sites etc were contacted...
Mellesleg kíváncsi vagyok, hogy hány médiaképviselő lesz ott, mert nem találtam erről az egészről SEMMIT a svéd médiában, kivéve a TilliT-et, Nordic Africa News-t és egy-két magánszemély illetve támogató szervezet weboldalát (oké, nem néztem tévét, és nem hallgattam rádiót). Pedig tudom, hogy rengeteg újságot és híroldalt, stb megkerestek...
